Fan Art of the Day: Star Wars Retold Through Famous Artworks

Since 2011, photographer David Eger has been working with Star Wars figurines to recreate iconic and familiar imageries from movie posters and album covers, as well as historical artworks like paintings and photographs. His first series 365 Days of Clones was a daily project, followed by the weekly 52 Weeks of Star Wars. This year, he is aiming for quality over quantity with 12 Months of Hope, Empire and Jedi. Hat tip to Wired!

Twitter Hashtag of the Day: #EmojiArtHistory

Over the past several days, the Twitter hashtag#EmojiArtHistory has been serving up emoji interpretations of famed masterpieces in art history. Started by a group of Twitter users including JiaJia Fei, Man Bartlett and Magda Sawon, it was picked up earlier this week by Los Angeles’ J. Paul Getty Museum and London’s Tate Modern. As of today, it’s been tweeted more than 1,600 times and the Daily Dot has launched a single topic Tumblr to highlight some of the best works.
