Disqualification of the Day: Seven-time All-American swimmer Hill “Dolphin Man” Taylor recently surpassed the 50-meter backstroke world record by a full second. But Hill’s final time of 23.1 won’t count because he swam the entire length of the pool underwater.
FINA backstroke rules clearly state that, except for a distance of not more than 15 meters following a turn, “some part of the swimmer must break the surface of the water throughout the race.”
World record holder or not, that man is one dolphin.
